Since I first tested their service, Surfshark is one Virtual Private Network (VPN) that has continually impressed me. It has steadily and reasonably rapidly expanded its network quality and coverage while maintaining a consistent price.
Surfshark hasn’t gone hog-wild crazy and expanded in every direction cybersecurity has to offer, unlike some competitors. It has retained a keen focus on just the VPN, adding critical new features and server locations.
They were not the earliest on board with WireGuard, and when they did, it was providing it “as is” without any additional flare. It’s worked for them, though and speeds on most Surfshark servers are excellent.

Our Take on Surfshark

- Allows unlimited simultaneous device connections
- Stunning speeds using WireGuard protocol

- Camouflage Mode prevents websites from detecting VPN traffic

Who Should Use Surfshark?
If you are looking for a pure VPN service provider without the side-frills that so many are introducing today, then Surfshark is your best choice. You won’t find fancy features here, but many necessities for VPNs are comprehensively covered.
It excels in the most vital areas a VPN should; good server network coverage, excellent speeds, camouflage to prevent websites from detecting it, and more. There are lots to love and very little about which to complain.
However, like many other VPNs, although Surfshark can support torrenting on its servers, it isn’t the best place to handle P2P.
Is Surfshark Worth the Price?
Surfshark offers one of the most competitive-value deals of which I’m aware. This value is especially clear when you consider they are one of the only top brands that allows unlimited device connections per account. It’s a dream come true for price-conscious users. Even better is the fact that price hikes have been minimal so far.
Surfshark Speed Tests
Speed tests are run every two days for a total of 15 per month to assess Surfshark performance. Each test is performed from three different server locations while linked to the recommended server by Surfshark.
The timing allows for better consistency, while there is enough variation to prove overall capabilities in performance for different servers. Overall, it hasn’t let me down so far, but keep an eye on the graphs to see for yourself.

How To Setup Surfshark On Your Devices
Surfshark is supremely easy to install and use (as long as you aren’t a Linux user). There’s not much variation from other standard app installations, although you will probably have to give it a few more permission clicks if you are on macOS.
Overall Setup Process
- Visit the Surfshark’s app download page
- Choose the app for the platform you need and click the link
- From the app page, hit the “Download now” button and save the file
- Launch the installation file and follow the instructions provided
- Run the Surfshark app, and you’re ready to go
Surfshark is pretty much an install-and-use application. It will work perfectly fine without any changes to default settings. The app is smart enough to know what device it’s on and configure itself accordingly.
However, one thing of note is that the auto-selection of the fastest server isn’t that great. It typically chooses the nearest, which may be slower than others. I prefer a manual server selection; just remember to add that location to your list of favorites for convenience.
Surfshark Windows Application
There honestly isn’t much to shout about where Surfshark’s Windows app is concerned. The design is pretty neat, and you can see they’ve tried hard to keep it user-friendly. There is some use of VPN jargon, but that’s simply unavoidable.
Surfshark macOS Application
Aside from the rounded Mac corners, the Surfshark macOS app is almost the twin image of its Windows counterpart. If you’re using both platforms, the switch is more intuitive than most. Nothing to write home about, but it works.
