About AtlasVPN
AtlasVPN is bright, shiny, and new in the Virtual Private Network (VPN) space. Despite an already somewhat overcrowded market, they entered service early in 2020. Even more impressive is the fact they seem to be growing strong.
At a glance, there is a lot to love about this VPN service as long as you can get past the fact that they’re a US-registered entity. Hoping to overcome this handicap, AtlasVPN has a prominent “Warrant Canary” that claims no government intervention – yet.

Feature Highlights
Privacy and Security
For a VPN in this price category, AtlasVPN offers an impressive array of privacy and security features. It starts with the basics like solid data encryption and moves towards the “slightly more rarely seen” space of tracker, malware, and ad- blocking.
More impressive is the inclusion of a data breach monitor and what AtlasVPN calls SafeSwap. This feature cycles your connection through multiple IP addresses even when you remain connected to the same VPN server.
AtlasVPN is Suitable for Media Streaming
AtlasVPN does mention support for streaming services while tactfully not specifying which will work. Still, even a quick check demonstrated that they’re okay with Netflix. Despite being on the opposite side of the world, speeds to their US server were more than sufficient for streaming.
The inclusion of SafeSwap mentioned earlier also means you’re less likely to get blocked by streaming platforms. Overall, I’d say that AtlasVPN is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a low-cost way to access more streaming content.
Customer Support
Given how new the service is, I can’t fault AtlasVPN for having a limited knowledge base. Yet like many other VPN service providers, they’ve opted to maintain fewer support channels for users.
In this case, redress or assistance is only available via a customer support email address. We can only hope they expand the scope of their self-help materials in the future.
How Much Does AtlasVPN Cost?
To get this out of the way, AtlasVPN has a free tier you can use. This system isn’t uncommon except for the way they implement it. Even without creating an account, you can download and use AtlasVPn – simply install the app and connect to a server.
Paid plans will provide access to many more servers and options on the app. For slightly over a dollar each month, the fees are reasonable. It more than matches the available features, although I’d expect them to increase as the service matures.
AtlasVPN Pros & Cons
Pros of AtlasVPN
- WireGuard protocol supported
- Fast speeds
- Budget-friendly price with a free plan available
- P2P supported
- Unlimited devices on paid plans
Cons of AtlasVPN
- Protocols limited to IkeV2 and WireGuard
- Falls under US jurisdiction
Conclusion: Is AtlasVPN Legit?
Absolutely. While I still have concerns about no logging and privacy claims due to US jurisdiction, I have to say that AtlasVPN seems a proposition too good to be true. Yet it’s there to check out for yourself as I did – at no cost.
