UltraVPN Review

Despite being in the business for over three years, UltraVPN raises some concerns. The limited information available on its website makes the company less transparent to the public. Read our UltraVPN review to find out more or click here to visit them online.

About UltraVPN

UltraVPN is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service founded in 2018. Original ownership of the product was under a UK-based entity, which a US-based group has now taken over. At the moment, things are still a little unclear as to actual jurisdiction.

Sadly, much of this ambiguity spills over into UltraVPN itself. Despite being in business for over three years, their website is little more than a collection of marketing jargon. For instance, without actually having an UltraVPN account, you won’t know how many devices the service supports, protocols available, or much else.

Features Highlights

Privacy and Security

As far as security goes, UltraVPN claims to offer “virtually uncrackable” encryption – likely 256-bit. While UltraVPN does have a kill switch in the form of a “Firewall,” there doesn’t seem to be any explicit claims about logging policies or other privacy statements.

Its affiliation with companies offering other cybersecurity products, though, does seem to have benefits. For example, UltraVPN offers malware and phishing protection – something not typically included with most VPN services.

UltraVPN for Streaming

Still, for a relatively unknown service provider, UltraVPN does have servers across a wide spread of locations. However, how many servers support this spread is also unknown. Still, streaming fans can access their UltraFlix servers for great content.

Another problem here seems to be the lack of claims for any support of popular platforms like Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+. If you can access those services, it’s okay, but if not, there is likely limited potential for redress since they don’t say it will be available.

Overall, for the price they charge, UltraVPN is a rather dubious choice. Many top-tier VPNs charge similar rates today while offering far greater access and transparency. Most notably, Ultraflix seems to have a worrying number of customer complaints about poor billing practices and customer support.

Overall I’d rate customer support for UltraVPN pretty low. The website has little helpful information and a barely existing knowledge base. There isn’t even a live chat service, so you have to rely on email for any kind of assistance.

At $2.99/mo for a 12-month subscription, UltraVPN is at the lower end of the pricing spectrum in VPNs. You’ll find there are much cheaper options such as FastestVPN if that’s what you want. However, a bigger problem is that much more powerful choices are available in the same pricing range – for example, Surfshark, which costs only $2.49/mo.

They offer a 30-day free trial on the surface but don’t get fooled by that. The reality is that the 30-days is just their money-back guarantee. You still need to pay upfront if you wish to take it for a spin.

UltraVPN Pros & Cons

Pros of UltraVPN

  • Good server geographic spread
  • 30-day free trial
  • Streaming support
  • Anti-malware and phishing

Cons of UltraVPN

  • Lack of transparency
  • Limited knowledgebase

Conclusion: Should You Pay for UltraVPN?

From a dodgy background to minimal information, UltraVPN raises many red flags. Even if the company is legit, the poor approach towards a service-oriented market is appalling. For what they want to charge, there are many better options.
